Elopement in Paris France

Sarah and Tom eloped to Paris in late December 2014, just before their civil ceremony in England.

The couple chose Paris for their elopement as they loved its inimitable air of romance, particularly over the Christmas period when there is a very special atmosphere in the city.

They approached us here at Ceremonize to act as their wedding planner, helping them to organise the perfect elopement to Paris.

Back when the word originally came into use, elopement meant to run off to get married in secret. Now, the expression is more commonly used for couples who want to organise an intimate ceremony abroad, just the two of them. Couples often decide to elope to Paris at a particularly symbolic time in their relationship – maybe just before or after a civil service in their home country, or perhaps a few years later as a vow renewal. The most important thing for us as wedding planners is that the couple enjoy their special moment.

Now, back to Sarah and Tom’s elopement.

After getting ready at their hotel with the help of a wedding hairdresser and makeup artist, the couple travelled together to the ceremony. The intimate affair unfolded in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower, undoubtedly Paris’s most magnificent monument.

The weather was sunny but cold, and our daring bride decided to brave the weather with bare arms during the ceremony…brrr!

Eloping is a romantic and moving declaration of a couple’s love for one another. The ceremony is intimate and personal, and the couple can exchange beautiful vows and, if desired, rings.

After exchanging both rings and vows, the couple enjoyed a glass of champagne and a small elopement cake, made especially for them with an Eiffel Tower cake topper.

After the ceremony Sarah and Tom wanted to take their wedding photos in some of their favourite spots of Paris – the Pyramide du Louvre and the Pont des Arts (love lock bridge). We also advised them of some beautiful spots off the beaten track, where they could take authentic Parisian wedding photographs.

They conducted their Paris photo tour in style…in a very stylish Mercedes, in fact!

They ended their wedding day on a high note, with a delicious dinner in a gastronomic restaurant in the heart of Paris, where they were treated to service in a private room.

We wish Sarah and Tom all the very best for their married life together!
